    To whom it may concern;
Please call 416-489-8347, to confirm receipt, since we can no longer take receipt for granted!
Has anyone considered the process of impeaching Harper? Consider reading Carol Goar’s article in the Toronto Star, today, January 13th, 2010.
It shows how Harper depends on our forgetting the issues as they come rushing by because this corporate take-over is so multi-facetted that focussing on one or two issues is incredibly deficult, and leaves out too many important issues.
    Call me, please.

I am interested in attending the rally to protest against Stephen Harper’s decision to shut down the Parliament.

It is anti-democratic and in order to ask you this question, will American Sign Language (ASL)-English interpretation to be provided at the rally event for next Saturday?

Many Deaf people who lives in Toronto would like to find out from the organizer for this rally. Thank you!

    Hey,

You can contact James Clark to obtain posters to print.

And we are working to get an ASL translator at the rally!

    Thanks for your support guys!

I will be attending this rally on the 23rd of January to express my displeasure and anger with the PM for his decision. But does anyone else think this protest route is lame? It’s just a square route essentially.. WTF
It should at least make it’s way to parliament hill, or city hall. Something that represents the civic and/or politcal will of the people. Not just a large concrete space with advertising. Cheers!

  8. 8 Bill said at 10:50 pm on January 18th, 2010:

Walking that suggested route *does* seem pretty lame. Alluding to a Paul Simon song, how about the theme “50 ways”:

    - invite 50 notable speakers (columnists, politicians, community leaders, etc)
    - allow each of them exactly 2 minutes to explain why prorogation is wrong, what we should do
    - strictly moderated, no more than 2 min per person
    - it would be a very informative / motivational 100 minutes, much better than walking that route

And if there is an overflow crowd that totally blocks Yonge and/or Dundas Streets, that would be impressive

50 ways to tell Steven Harper he has made a big mistake.

If you guys need a massive Canadian Flag for anything, I have the biggest one you can find. It flew on top of the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill in 2002. It was given to me as I was working as a consultant in Ottawa for the Gov’t.

I’ve used it for events before, to walk with it, it needs a few people, surprisingly, it’s really big!

    Peace.

  10. 10 Jennefer said at 2:29 pm on January 21st, 2010:

I saw something earlier that said the event was in several parts – 1pm march, with the rally back at Dundas Square thereafter – but I’m not sure of the time. Can someone please update on that?

  11. 11 Harry said at 8:39 pm on January 21st, 2010:

I wonder if the Harris-ites who pro-rogued parliament would take a pay cut? If I don’t work I don’t get paid… It’s just Common Sense, right Mike?

  12. 12 Justin Arjoon said at 3:41 pm on January 22nd, 2010:

    Rob, contact me at jpeg.arjoon@gmail.com

Jennefer. The march will begin at 2. There will be 4 speakers before the march and 4 after.

There will be entertainment provided at the square if you’re not marching.

As the founder of “We the People of Canada Nous Peuples du Canada”

I whole heartedly support your rallies. I would like to speak for about 3 minutes. Am very effective, dynamic public speaker.

Would like to meet with organizers to discuss a more structured response including 1) listing the names of MPs who return to House of Commons next week and attend daily while Harpooners Holiday Tours takes three months off. 2)During next election make an issue of did you report to work? Or did you take Harpooners paid vacation? Could be a powerful isssue.

I have written to all opposition parties in cluding the Green Party and the Conservative Party of Canada asking them to report back to We the People of Canada Nous Peuples du Canada and let me know if their MPS showed up for work January 25-March 4, 2010 and the names of those who didn’t.

In addition beyond the prorogue issue we need to organize a broad based organization dedicated to upholding the interests of the People of Canada…since Prime Minister Harpooner doesn’t and GG Jean either won’t or can’t. We must speak up on our own behalf! Beyond the Prorogue!

By the way why Prime Minister Harpooner?
Because he really likes to stick it to the people of Canada.

Prime Minister Harpooner will go down in history as the PM who cried Prorogue once too many times, like the little boy who cried wolf people are fed up with his nonsense!

His undemocratic prorogue violates and strikes down the most basic Canadian Value — that of a fair wage for an honest day’s work. It is obvious that Harpooner wants to stick the cost of a three months plus paid vacation for his MPs to hard working Canadians who have been ravaged by this recession.

For those who want vacations We The People of Canada Nous Les Peuples du Canada can grant any MP who does not report for work a permanent vacation from political representation by voting them out of office.

    Cheers and good luck

Hope to meet with some of you organizers

No MP and certainly not the government has 3 months off. It’s an insult to MPs to say that they do not work when in their ridings. This is when you as citizen have a chance to meet your MP and also voice any concern you might have.
To prorogue is part of parliamentary process and fully legal. No harm has been done to our democracy. I would be very concerned if we would get a leftist government, because they do not like protests nor opposing opinions.

  15. 15 Frank Giorno said at 11:42 am on January 23rd, 2010:

Alide…sorry I couldn’t respond to your phone call last night and i welcome your call, but I was walking along Bloor street last night on my way to dinner. Let me respond to your concern.

Of course MPs work at home…but they are also expected to show up to work at their office which happens to be the House of Commons in Ottawa. That is where the nations business takes place and democracy works. With Parliament shut down so MPs can play or look after their home affairs, the are missing and failing to fullfil the greater part of their job description.

Yes, bravo for fixing problems within the riding…but If We the People of Canada Nous Peuples du Canada were to do a performance appraisal of the job being done by those who fail to show up…it would go something like this: MP Harpooner, excellent looking after his home riding, but failed to carry out his role as Prime Minister of Canada by making Parliament work and democracy work…therefore it is recommended that Prime Minister Harpooner resign from his position, because he has not met his employment criteria as reflected in his job description.
However, We the People of Canada Nous Peuples du Canada feel Harpooner has a tremendous potential as a city councillor for a district in Calgary as he likes to stay home and look after local affairs.”

Please Prime Minister Harpooner, stop sticking it to us Canadians and come back to work and get your Tory Neo-Con MPs to do the same. Please live up to your conservative value of a fair wage for an honest days work!

    Cheers Frank Giorno

Congratulations to all who attended the rallies across Canada. I attended the one in Toronto and it was a tremendous success.

“We the People of Canada Nous Peuples du Canada” wholeheartedly contragulate Canadians Against Proroguing for the tremendous work they have done. Now let’s keep the pressure on our underworked PM Little Stevie Blunder and get him to understand that 46 percent of voters who voted Conservative are pissed off at him.

This is a totally non-partisan movement of Canadians who are fed up with Little Stevie Blunder who seems to hit all the wrong notes with people of all political stripes and even the non-political ones.

    Cheers Everyone
