Mr. Kramp:

Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament (CAPP) Quinte Chapter would like to formally extend to you an invitation to speak to Prince Edward-Hastings voters at our January 23, 2010 rally to be held at your Belleville constituency office.

CAPP Quinte has read in the press and received care of your constituents a variety of rationales to justify this latest prorogation. We are confused as to whether the reason is: your busy constituency work prevents your sitting in the House of Commons; the government needs time to consult with voters about the next budget; the 2010 Winter Olympics; “recalibration” (we are uncertain as to what this means); “market instability” apparently directly caused by parliamentary democracy; and so forth.

We read with dismay your comment in The Intelligencer that opposition to prorogation is based on “ignorance” and “lack of knowledge.” Your staff has assured us that you would never say that about any constituent, which further confuses us, since this was a direct quotation. We were also taken aback by your insinuation that opposition to prorogation is a partisan initiative, since our ranks include Conservatives, Liberals, New Democrats, Greens, and non-partisans.

Your appearance at the January 23 rally would be the ideal opportunity to set the record straight.
