13 people came together to discuss what London was going to do for the 2nd wave of bringing the issues of prorogation and democracy to the attention of the people in London. We have decided to call the 2nd wave “Democracy in Tune”.

The event will be held on Saturday February 27, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Victoria Park.

The basic idea of the 2nd wave is to have a Music/Entertainment Rally, rather than just speakers, we will still have speakers but we want to focus more on music and entertainment. We will have an open mic and invite people from the crowd to come and speak. We want to get an individual from Fairvote Canada, Canadians Action Party, Progressive Conservatives, independents and other local groups.

We voted and the main organizer of this event will be Daniel O’Neail.

    This is what was discussed:

Having people dress up and pretend to be Famous Canadians throughout the political movements. Ex: Winston Churchill, Sir John A MacDoanld, Nellie McClung, etc.

Guerrilla Theatre: Having people dress up (Ex: Nurses, police, city workers, firefighters, etc) and go to various areas where they will freeze for approx 3 minutes with signs that read, “Harper said you wouldn’t notice if we stopped working” and then hand out mini flyers about the event on February 27, 2010.

We also discussed having a “Go Around” where people from the community come together and discuss their concerns or have a chance to speak their mind involving this issue; Jeff is leading this and will post more info as it becomes available. (This is much like the Native American tribal meetings where the people would come together and pass the talking stick and voice their concerns). They are looking at holding this event on Wednesday February 17, 2010, in the evening, location to be announced soon. If we can get this recorded then there was talk of getting it onto a podcast.

We are planning on having a member from the NDP, Green, Liberal and an independent voter come together and participate in a duo. The idea behind this is the parties are united in song for a common concern. More info on this coming soon.

We want to get the local artist and poets out to this event. We also will be contacting the Native and local woman’s activist and PRIDE movements. We also want to branch out and get in contact with local farmers, truck drivers, and anyone else whose been effecting by this current government.

There was talk of a candle light vigil, but this has to be done at night and more details on this will be coming soon.

We are not sure what to do with the Torch of Democracy at this time as this in itself would take a tremendous amount of commitment and we would need a committee to take this on and organize, if anyone would like to do this please let us know as soon as possible so that the committee can be formed and get in contact with the organizers of that event.

We are going to be working on creating a London based website for updates, information on this coming soon.

We have created the following committees if you would like to help please contact the people who volunteered to head those committees.

    Entertainment Committee: Jeff Culbert

    Public Relations: Daniel O’Neail

    Promotions: Nanaura Soul

Research: Santo Giorno and Dylan Grant Chisholm

We are working on getting the buttons done for the 2nd wave.
We are hoping to have mini flyers ready for distribution by the middle of the week.

Harper may have fired the Watchdogs but now there are 220,000+ Watchers watching him and every move he and his party makes.

I really feel that this meeting was very informative and was one of the most productive meetings I have attended in a long time. I look forward to working with each and every one of you.

    Hi everyone.
I have created an email to field questions about the second rally.
If you wish to ask something that you do not want on the general forum, or if you want to contact the organizers directly, please email democracylondon@gmail.com
I will check the email every morning and evening and respond as quickly as I can.
If the question is something I can’t answer I will forward it to a member of our team who would have the information and they will respond.
